Ive got some folders on my desktop in windows xp pro, which are for my company. Ive got various company logos, which id like to use for them as icons to replace the boring old folders with. ANy ideas how i do it (please make it simple as i am the ultimate pc dofus!)

The procedure for changing the folder icon is easy, however, the picture file has to be of the icon type rather than the more common JPG, GIF or TIFF format.

To change the icon, right click on the folder and select properties from the menu. Next click the customize tab. Click the change icon button and then browse to the folder containing your icon files. Select the one you want and click ok. Click apply and that's it done.

Now, if your files are not in icon format (i.e., they are not called "something.ico", you will need to convert them first. If your pictures are currently in BMP, JPG or PNG format, you can download a cool convertor from here. Just drag your picture onto the window and it will convert it to an ico.
