hello all need help with my dryer, the drum will not spin i have opened the back and belt looks ok checked motor for volts thats fine. does any one have an idea what this could be cheers tony

Could be the motor capacitor (cylindrical object near the motor) if it goes low value it can not kick start the motor.

Not an easy thing to recomend how to test without a capacitance meter. There is a way to test but I hesitate to recommend due to possibility of injury if you dont understand or are not careful.

check the rear bearing to see if it is ok and check to make sure you can turn the drum by hand.

i looked at the bearing feels ok sounds ok as i can move the drum the cap sounds about right as the motor wants to turn but lacs power thanks for your help do these cost much

The capacitor kick starts the motor into turning in the correct direction....they cost a tenner or less usually, and look for its value and working voltage on the side. They are measured in uF - microfarads. :)
