Apologies if this turns into a double posting!
Can anyone advise if crimped connections need to be contained in an enclosure e.g. extending cables to allow relocation of cu?
Thanks.

Thanks breezer - realistically how can this be done at the backboard supporting the old CU. Any suggestions welcome.

The safese way is to install a row of double gang plastic mounting boxes above the consumer unit, and connect the cables inside them with Choc-Block of suitable size ratting, (One box for lighting, one for each Power Ring Main, etc), and run the new extension to the new consumer unit.
Cover the final connections with a white Blanking Plate.

How far are you moving the distribution board?

Sorry il78, been working away for two days.
New cu will be approx 2m from original position.
