Cross Batton a Ceiling

thanks for the comments, something to definitely to think about. i like the wood frame idea. A guy at work was saying today, to use a ackro prop and a plank to push the joist up and then secure it in the loft. Then just slap some boards on, what do you think?

It's probably the lath and plaster coming away from the joist so that wouldn't help.
 
If it's not the joist that's bowed you can't push the joist back up. All you push up is sagging plaster/render.

Yeh sorry thats what i meant, if the joists were bowed i'd use the ackro prop to push them up and tie them off in the loft. What do you thik good idea??

Sagging laths, bowed joists, does it really matter; go on, go ahead & bodge it :rolleyes:
I think you’ve already convinced yourself to take the cheapest way out anyway &, with any luck, it will end up someone else’s problem :cry: I really don't know why some of us bother :rolleyes:
 
LOL take your point, but we are in a recession and money is tight!!
