Crosswater Kai sometimes pumps

I installed a Crosswater Kai digital mixer and usually it works as expected but sometimes it pumps, meaning the water stops and then restarts, stops and then restarts, stops end then etc and the lights on the unit don't stop flashing. Any suggestions?
