Went to look at a simple CU change today and noticed that the customer had a PV install.

Once the main supplier fuse is disconnected (by the DNO) I guess that there will be a rotary switch or something in the loft to switch off the PV install so that the CU is not receiving alternate power? can anyone confirm this.
Will there be any residual power stored in the syste,/inverter?

Also when switching back on the PV install is it just a case off popping back on the rotary? or do I have to do anything with the inverter??!!

Thanks All

When the main fuse gets pulled the inverter shuts down automatically.

There should be a rotary isolator by the fuseboard which you can shut off if you want.

Yes it will restart once you reconnect the power (sometimes takes a few minutes to sync with the grid AC).

Check with the customer as some systems have a shut down procedure requiring the DC input to be switched off as well.

The design of the inverter ensures that without a mains supply they cannot generate

But the DC from the solar array is still being generated and the cables from the array will present a hazard when there is any sunlight on the arrays.
