My gas meter is in the utility cupboard under the stairs. Is it ok to install my new consumer unit just above it? Or does it have to be in a sparate place altogther?

Fankoooo!

I think there has to be a certain separation between the CU and incoming water/gas service pipes (from memory it's 10 cm but I could be wrong). I beleive this is because the incoming gas or water can be cold and cause condensation, which obviously is not somethiing to mix with your CU :!:

That said I've never seen condensation on either my gas or water supply.

ok thanks. It will be at least 800mm above it in anycase. Looked for ages through the regs, can't find anything on it...

grrr!

Cheers for your help
