CU mounting

Iam fitting a new CU.
Do I need to mount it on a board like the CU (a moulded piece of chipboard with ceramic spacers off the wall) or can it go straight to the wall.

on the wall is fine, so long as the wall really is 100% flat

If it is an outside wall, Norweb insist on spacing off with ceramic or plastic spacers (if you're stuck, slice up some bits of plastic conduit). Internal walls have no such restriction.

But other REC's may have different rules. Why not talk to an engineer?
