Looking for some decorative advice...

We have a window with a recess - approximately h 203 x w 135 x d 18 cms.

There is currently a roll down blind. However whenever the window is open we cannot keep the blind closed. The draft causes the blind to rattle.

We are considering putting up a set of curtains.

1) Would it look okay to install the curtain within the recess? For example putting up a rod within the recess, and then hanging a single eyelet curtain?

The curtain brochures tend to show the curtains overhanging the recess.

2) When shopping for curtains, what width do we require? A 145 width curtain - does this account for the pleats? Is this curtain actually narrower due to how it would be hung?

3) We also have a net lace curtain hanging within the recess attached to a extending rail (ie not screwed or bolted in). Would something similar support some light weight curtains?

The modern way... according to designers... is to have curtains that are full length to the floor and not shorter than that. They also say to scrap net curtains.

You could have a plain coloured blind and full length curtains, but buy the curtains first.
