Custom St/St BBQ burner

Before I go any further, would building any combustion device (as in from metal stock, not pre-fabricated and approved parts) for use out doors, to be fed from regulated, bottled gas, be considered DIY gas work, and thus making discussion on this forum taboo?

As a background, I have, in the past, made a high pressure propane burner for an aluminium furnace following advice from a metal casting forum. Does anyone know if there is any sort of equivilent home made BBQ forum available online? I've looked, but can't seem to find one that is relevent.
