Cutting a black paper

Hi all,hope someone can help.Doing a friends bedroom,with a black "leather look" paper.Its a paste the wall paper also,however when trying to mark the cut line i.e. ceiling and skirt with the scissors i cannot see the line,mainly due to none soaking of paper and very thick emmboss,can someone recommend a way to mark it?without it showing on "fixing"

Cut it over length top and bottom, paste it up, now trim with scalpel or other very sharp blade, whilst in position.
 
Pencil?...

Or astripping knife...anything with a thin blade you can pull down it.
 
Thank you for replys,will try craft knife type blade and see if its any better.Thanks once again.

I cut most of my paper with a craft knife and use a aluminium straight edge as well.
