hi - not sure if this is one for roofing or joinery - I have a flat roof (3x10m, 6" insulation, with EPDM finish) and would like to get a 3x2m roof lantern installed, I've had a quote of 3K just to cut the hole and prepare the roof for the lantern which seems very steep - what sort of cost is reasonable for labour on this?

thanks

My guess would be the minimum roof area that needs stripping is a bit bigger than 3m x 3m.

You will need 2 new beams or existing joists doubled up or steels -all depending on the calcs.

That will mean removing a fair bit of plasterboadd.

Externally the falls will need altering -at least around the lantern area, so a section will need the EPDM being redone.

Then an upstand will need forming with lead or epdm flashing detail.

I can see the cost getting upto £3k quite easily.
