Hi All

I have bought a HARCOSTAR water butt and need to cut a hole on the top to allow water to ingress - follow link to a picture

http://www.greenhousesupply.co.uk/details.asp?prodid=700LitreWaterTank&cat=30

The manufacturers are very 'uncertain' about cutting any holes in same (all their holes are reinforced and threaded)

Has anyone cut a hole in one of these monsters as yet please and if so any problems.

Thank you..

from looking at your picture I am guessing it is made of pvc plastic and not pressurized during use.
If this is the case just buy your pvc fitting to obtain proper diameter and using a hole saw in a drill at slow speed drill your hole.
next using pvc glue , swab your hole and pipe and glue together.
If it's steel same process and have fitting welded or brazed in.

If it's pvc any plumber can fix you up in no time.

If its just in the top to let water in and its nylon. drill hole insert fitting and
caulk before inserting fitting tight.
