Hi

Can anyone advise on the best way to cut a slate floor tile with a manual tile cutter without the tile breaking in completely the wrong place. As slate consists of different layers of stone running in different directions I am wondering if the only successful way is to use an automated diamond blade tile cutting saw. Any views would be greatly appreciated.

your safest is the electric cutter,i recently used a plas plugs b and q special to cut mine with no major problems, makes a real mess though!
the hand cutters are as much use as a chocolate teapot on slate

Thanks for the reply. Ordered a 600w cheapo tile cutter saw from Screwfix. Should do the trick.
