Our microwave has broken and we're having trouble finding a replacement. Do you know if the back on the microwave tower units form Howdens are load-bearing? I might need to cut a hole in the back to get a microwave to fit but didn't know if I would run through screws/bolts etc? I'm literally thinking of taking a circular saw to the width and height of the microwave aperture (~455mm).

I need a depth of 550mm and the cabinet backing runs to 500 (ish). Failing that we need to find a smaller microwave...

Scrub that - I can see with some prodding that the backing is fairly flimsy - not chip board.
