When installing a boost pump for a shower, the MI recommend a temperature setting on the cylinder hot water of a maximum 60 degrees C. Above this would damage the pump. Further, websites such as this recommend a setting of 50-55 degrees to give the pump a longer life.

Question is - the cylinder stat is about half way down on a typical installation, the water at the top of the cylinder will obviously be hotter and therefore how best to set the cylinderstat such that the maximum temperature the pump will see is 55-60 degrees?

Thanks Matt

I can't answer your question directly (I'll leave that to someone else).

It's worth bearing in mind though that the water temperature in the cylinder cannot exceed that of the boiler flow pipe.

Ok - good article....i will set the stat to 50 degrees. Probably save me some money anyway doing that!!!!

Are there any disadvantages of setting the stat very low like this?

Also - as a seperate but related question....what are the pros and cons of the Warix flange vs the surrey flange?

Thanks
Matt
