cylinder to hot

hi there a friend of mine has a problem with his hot water cylinder
he said it seems to get to hot and start boiling. would it be the thermostat
on the cylinder.

Turn it off IMMEDIATELY and get a heating engineer in. Do not disregard this.

as already mentioned, DO NOT use until problem is fixed. depends how its gettin heated for the cause. if its the immersion, most have a removeable (without removing immersion) thermostat. fairly easy change. if its fully pumped or similar it could be the stat for this
