The mechanical Cytrol valve that is connected to the primary return from the cylinder on my heating system has failed.

The blue control knob on top of the Cytrol valve cannot be moved and there is no thermostat connected to the cylinder. The hot water system still works fine relying on the cut off valve on the boiler.

My question is: -

Can you still source these control valves and if so where???

Any help appreciated
Paul

Why do you think the Cyltrol has failed? The thermostatic sensor is inside the valve (responds to return temp., this being same as cylinder temp.). You don't need to turn the top if it's set at the right temp., so it doesn't matter if it's jammed.

If you must replace it, you ought to consider a more fundamental upgrade - pumped primary circulation, motorised valve, cylinder stat (- boiler interlock) - you will save significantly on running costs. Otherwise it might be worth checking if Drayton supply replacement heads for Cyltrols.

you can still get the replacement guts for a cytrol valve, not sure where they come from but they definately stock them at british gas parts centre
nice easy job
