ISTR I found the fan in the panel I removed, I could hear it working when all was closed and my ear to the side.
Use a hairdryer on the ice to speed up removal.
Check that the drain hole at the bottom still allows water to go down it, if not it may be clogged and the cause of the issue.
Now is also a good time to give the inside a good clean whilst it is empty.

You haven't given your model number but this suggests there may be a fan.
Check the compatible models list and at leat you will know there is one somewhere. Ransom spares usually have exploded diagrams of part locations. If you discover that you have one but cannot locate it yourself then give them a ring and see if they can help.
The fact you can't hear one suggests that if your model has one then it has failed

Thanks very much for the advice, tbh when i switch the freezer on for a moment to try and hear the fan the sound of it switching into its freeze mode is noisy, but pretty sure i cant hear it , its a daewoo frs-u20 dci
not with the door open not when its not cold the fan will not run

I would guess so. Giving the whole area a good clean with a vacuum wouldn't go amiss. I think while you have it out that I would take that back panel off and see you can see a duct that the cold air should be blown up to the fridge through or if that area also needs clearing of fluff.
No that's not the fan the one you want is in the freezer
