The current tory administration (since 2010) has borrowed more than all previous governments in history and increased the UK debt level likewise...
These are irrefutable facts!

...and Labour have criticised them for austerity and not spending enough. Thank goodness Labour haven't been in government. Just imagine how much worse the debt would be.
Money for public services? Sorry, times are hard.
Money for banks? Sure thing, take as much as you can carry.
Pay rise for MPs? Yum yum yum
Billion-pound bribe for the DUP? Please do, help yourself
Tax cuts? No prob, there's an election coming.
Only irrefutable if you choose to ignore the fact its a pointless comparison.

This is the reality:
The first is that borrowing has been historically high in recent years following the financial crisis in the late noughties, when Labour was still in office. Borrowing rosefrom £40 billion in 2007/08 to a peak of £155 billion in 2009/10.
A new government can’t wipe out that level of borrowing overnight, nor would it necessarily want to. You can argue the deficit should or could have come down quicker anyway, but simple arithmetic like this clearly doesn’t give you the whole story.
Secondly, the economy is much bigger now than it used to be. Once you look at all these figures compared to the size of the UK economy, the picture is differe
