damaged cable

hi could anyone help me please, i went to replace a light switch in my house and on one of the red cores some of the insulation is damaged, you can partially see the metal cable inside, its not alot of damage though. how can i repair it :eek:

Just put some red heatshrink sleeving over the damaged area and heat it.
 
thanks again for your swift response could i use insulation tape. will heat shrink work with a lighter?

it'll work with a hairdryer

Insulation tape can loose it's stick and drop off over time. Heatshrink will burn if you try to use a lighter, but as crafty says a hairdryer will do the job, or a hot air paint striiper type gun thingy.

You can get away with it if you are careful, hair dryier is better though :)
 
the side of a hot soldering iron is also pretty effective
