damaged wallpaper

My two-year-old son today scratched the wallpaper next to the stairs. Please see the photo.

Do you have any tip to fix this problem, apart from replacing everything?

That's a tricky one because the wallpaper has lifted text on it. I'd strip any paper of that particular wall and then paint it.(unless you have another piece of that wallpaper) but I suppose you're hoping for an easier option?

The shape created by your son's tearing is actually more aesthetically interesting than the original surface. I don't blame him for trying to improve it.

Make a feature of it.
