Two problems here. In the bathroom the external walls are plastered and have got damp/mould/black stuff on them in places. Has anyone got any tips on how to get this off and whether or not I will need to treat the walls afterwards?

Also, I've got a ground floor extension with a flat roof. The lead flashing cracked and rain started to come in, running down the interior (which used to be exterior) wall. The paint/plaster started to flake off in places. I've had the roof repaired and will soon want to have the room re-plastered before decorating. Is there a chance that the moisture may have got into the brickwork in which case what do I need to do? Or can I just scrape off the flakey bits and get it plastered over?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Check the ventilation in the bathroom if this is not good then the prob you describe will happen, also are the gutters leaking forming a damp patch through the wall, watered down bleach will kill the fungus on the wall. As for the leak every thing should be ok if wall is just dry and flaky. decorate in a matt finish and not silk or vynil emulsion as this will let the wall breath to let any existing moisture out

open the window, clean wall with bleach paint with anti -mould paint.

Hi,
With regards to the above problem is there anything you can add to paint to prevent mould in poorly ventilated rooms.
I have also seen moisture reducing containers which have salt like granules in them, are these any good as a preventative measure.
