Hello had very bad mould issues ongoing for the past 8 years living here, in every room, nothing works opening a window and ventilating everyday, it feels so cold damp wet all the time, i feel like im living in a wet soily smell type feild in the winter its apsolutly vile smells musty in every room

The building is old of course
All solid walls no insulstion
Had a damp man out who the lanlord got and he just told me condenensation
Done a tiny bit of damp proofing downstairs where there was a tiny bit of mould and told me the rest of the house was condensation, well then this is some severe condensation then because its all over my wall in bedroom at the end wall with no house next to it , in every single room also not just abit on the window

The downstairs void/cellar whatever it is
Has loads of junk/soil filled in

I just need advice as i dont know what to do to get rid of this anymore im scared for my kids and our health breathing this in every year because we cannot move

And yes i do wipe all this down after taking photos but it just regrows and i halft to condtantly wipe

The damp meter shown 45 aswell on the floor in the living room by where the cellar is thanks all

You need to contact Shelter or another housing charity for help. Assuming you are adequately heating and ventilating the house and your lifestyle isn't contributing to the issue then there is nothing else you can do. You will need documentary evidence that you've reported the issues to your landlord and given him ample opportunity to rectify them.

Not really a DIY issue and any attempt to carry out remedial work yourself on a rented property could have legal implications.

Your not hanging wet washing up inside all the time are you? that would cause damp issues

You need to kill the mould spores rather than just wiping down. Some cheap black mould killers work really well. I use the Astonish range but neat bleach brushed on and left to air dry also works. Now that the nicer weather is arriving you have the chance to kill the mould and give the house a good venting.

Take photos of each stage so you have evidence of what you are doing to combat the damp/mould. You can also contact environmental health at your local council if the conditions don't improve but landlords can get upset about this avenue.

Any photos of the outside of the house, roof and ground level so we can see if there maybe other things going on.
