Hey all,

I posted previously about my project to re-roof and re-render my ancient single skin detached garage.

I spent the weekend hacking off old render (fun!) and the bottom of the rear wall of the garage is soaking wet.

Pictures below - this was after I’d lifted the slabs that butted right against the wall.

my plan is to install a channel drain across the rear wall with 50mm concrete either side. Hopefully that helps disperse surface water.

I’ve also bought some sika inectocream to try and create a damp proof course (I don’t think one exists in any walls).
When I was drilling the holes for this tonight - the mortar that came out was really damp to the point of being ‘mud’ in some place. (Again see pics below)

anything else I should be doing to combat this?

bit worried about spending a couple of grand on the refurb if there is a fundamental issue that can’t be sorted.

Thanks!
