Hi Why not tack a length of polythene on to rafters in the area discussed, with a fold back at lowest point (above sofit ) this should give you an indication where the problem lies. And a clear way forward. Good Luck

Surely if there was a leak then the water would just run down the polythene?
Actually I tried putting polythene accross the insulation underneath the re-roofed part and found nothing. Also if you look at the picture with the insulation rolled back, the ceiling looks dry.
I have tried the roofer's suggestion of putting extra insulation over that area. I have sealed around the loft hatch to prevent condensation rising into the loft from the bathroom too but still have the damp patch. It is a bit of a mystery.
Please keep the suggestions coming as it may just be something simple.
Does anyone think the extra wood or felt used seem suspect?

Hi. By putting a fold at lowest point. it would trap water and give you the evidence of a leak. It may be worth drilling holes in the noggins between the rafters to exterior, to vent the area. Good Luck
