This weekend there has been a smell of damp in my daughters bedroom, which has got steadly worse.

The house is 1900's with floor boards. i've tried to check between the gaps of the boards for any leaks esp near rad's. It's even got a sink in the room (which is all switched off at the pipes to stop 3 yr old turning taps on). No sign of leaks that i can see. Tried to smell between the boards as well to see if it was particularly strong. it's not.

So there's no sign of damp that i can see, no mould. no wet walls.

what next? Plumber?

It's the waste pipe on the sink. The trap under the sink now has no water in it due to the taps being off - smells from the sewer are entering the room.

He's right. Tip a jug of water in and see if it stops.

much better today, still there but not as pervasive as it was yesterday.

Hopefully that should do it. Thanks very much.
