Hi Guys,

Water pressure was down in our area due to ongoing water works down the road. Our combi boiler needed repressurised, but i think we left the filling loop open and the pressure was up at 3, i could hear the water running out of the copper overflow pipe externally when i realised. we closed the filling loop and managed to reduce the pressure, however the boiler now won't maintain any pressure for long periods of time 4-6 hrs. we have a basement that you can check all the pipe work in and there are defiantly no leaks causing it. does anyone have any ideas what i have done and how i got about fixing it? i thought maybe the pressure relief valve from reading others posts but not sure.

thanks!![/b]

Stop blowing PRVs you'll get a nasty rash..... Sounds like you need someone to replace your Pressure relief valve....But don't blow him, his wife won't like it..

Well the prv worked as it should, by opening at 3bar.
It then closes quickly as the pressure drops.
It's highly likely some sediment has been trapped on the sealing face or rubber washer which means there is a leak at the prv. You may not see it cause the water being hot will evaporate..
You could try opening the valve by twisting the top and flushing it.
The other options are dismantling the valve head and cleaning it, but you would most likely need a home made 'c' type spanner to go under the head when it's open to undo the head.
Or the easy way out is to replace the prv with a new one

Telling us the model of boiler would get more closely tailored replies!
