What date, approximately, was half inch and three-quarter inch copper pipe phased out, in favour of 15mm & 22mm pipe?

Try BS 2871 where '71 is the operative number. This should put you in the right direction. i.e.1971.

Early to mid seventies. Why?

Because where I live, there are various small developments, ranging from 1870s to the present day. It would be useful to know in advance what size pipes I might encounter, and be better prepared to get the job sorted. So, up to 1970, it's imperial, and, say, from 1976 onwards it will be metric. Is that a reasonable assumption?

Thank you "doitall", you have perhaps closed the approximation asked for, still further.

Just get a few 3/4 x 22mm convertors, 15mm and 1/2" are nearer enough the same so no need for convertors
