And seriously my final question: is it going to be a problem if I use the 3W globe-shaped bulb (57-6545) rather than the 2W tube-shaped one you mentioned? Presumably just means it should last longer as it is underpowered?

16/0.2 wire would be adequate from transformer to each letter. Rapid 01-0940

Underway, realised I only needed to use the 16/0.2 wire straight to each holder...

Just a quick query on this: the transformer seems to run pretty hot. Hasn't burnt out or anything but it creates a bit of a hot smell . Is this normal for a chassis transformer?
