We have sash windows in our house and I'm looking for a practical lock mechanism to use with them.
At present I have installed screw-in security bolts but these are obviously a pain to use if you want to quickly open the kitchen window or the like. They are also a safety hazard in those rooms where the window is the primary fire escape.
Are there any other decent security options for traditional sash windows out there?
For the record, the windows are in excellent condition and cannot be replaced (at least cost effectively) as we are in a conservation area that demands this type of window be preserved.
Cheers,
iep
