Hi,

I'm after some decking advice before I buy the materials.

We're looking at putting some ground level decking, 3.6m x 5.2 m.

It's going to be a laid on a mixture of the solid patio around the edges and then on the soil where the original patio is.

1st Question - Are decking risers worth it? I once tried to lay a patio and it took forever to get level so I'm thinking the deck risers would help in this?

I've managed to salvage some flat 5"x5" x 1" thick slabs which were in there which I plan to use on some of the areas of the soil.

2nd Question - How can I ensure I have a nice fascia edge? I've seen a lot of peoples decking recently with grabs between the existing ground and I want to avoid this. I haven't seen many places offering fascias, people seem to use the decking boards or double them up. I guess I need to be smart and use what ever I'm using as my fascia as the datum to work out my height and try and get the decking up to that height?

3rd Question - Do I need to fix it to the outhouse we have? I've seen a mixture of peoples adding them to their existing property and then some which aren't secured at all? Does the weight of the joists etc ensure it won't move?

Thanks in advance
