I'm currently planning to build some (slightly) raised decking and as I've not done any before I'm not sure what the limits are in terms of unsupported span etc.

I'm planning to build a 4.8m by 4.8m deck and to dig 60cm deep post holes every 1.2m, making a total of 25. Then I plan to use 8 x 2 for the joists which will be spaced at 1.2m and then add noggins every 40cm using 4 x 2. I'm then planning on fitting the deck boards perpendicular to the noggins and therefore parallel to the joists.

Is this good practice?

Is the post hole spacing and depth ok?

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.
