So I posted recently about covering an old concrete base in my garden and had no idea what to do. I had a builder friend come up to chat over some ideas with him and he suggested decking the area.
His suggestion has worked out surprisingly cheap, please note he didn't give me a quote for the work. He's a mate and just helping me out.
So he suggested using 3x2 fence RAILS as frame and joists instead of the 'normal' stuff. He did say any time he builds a deck for a customer he uses the 'normal' stuff as this is what people expect however he has done his own deck and one for hs brother out of fence rails with deck boards on top as normal. I really can't see any problem with this but thought I'd see what you guys thought on here.
A joiner quoted me £1k to deck the area I need done but me and my mate could do it for £350. The area is at the back of the garden so won't have every day foot traffic but be used mostly for BBQ'ing and having fires in the chiminea.
Thoughts?
