Hi guys, I'm looking to be doing some decking out my garden, I was wondering what you guys think is about an average size decked area....

I was originally considering a 5m X 5m decked area but with a few layout issues with my garden I'm not thinking of doing it 3.5m (l) X 5m (w) would you say that's small , or plenty?

It will mainly be used to have a table and chairs on, maybe a sun lounger etc for the wife..

I can't really find what is a normal decked size

Thanks in advance for any help

I would reduce the decking to 0.0m x 0.0m and increase the patio size to 3.5m x5m. ;)

On a more helpful note, with patios I generally advise people on no smaller than 10ft. That can fit a normal sized table and chairs for 4 people and also give room for people to move their seats back etc. If You intend to have balustrades etc then 10ft might seem a bit mean and enclosed.

Its often worth mocking up a table and chairs extended sized square and you'd be suprised how large it can be.

If you dont intend to have table and chairs for eating on it then go whatever size you like.

It has to be bigger than your neighbors' otherwise they will laugh at you. Seriously though 3.5m x 5m is not a small deck and would easily fit a table seating 6, a BBQ and 2 sun loungers.
