Hi
I have 2 big holes to decorate, pls see pics, paint was peeling, digging further was full of caulk, all removed, now have to decorate the 2 areas, they are about 50mm-60mm in width and depth.
How do I fill these holes? Fill with bonding coat?
Thanks

Put some expanding foam in first, in the hole and up the gap and then fill....foam will stop any cold spots.

The bonding did a good job, easy to work with, left space for smooth filler finish. Thank you all for the replies.

The vertical gaps are about 15mm deep and 5mm wide, should I use caulk or multi purpose filler?

My windows have UPVC trim covering all that damage.
Might be easier.
All my other windows have the quadrant trim but this one, I used multi purpose filler as don't like caulks, may add trim later

Yartin, I have similar caps to fill, and smaller ones.
Would use bonding if I had some, so will use filler, but interested to know, why don't you like caulk?
Thanks
Mary

I find filler much easier to use, it's easy to sand, caulk is generally not sand able. Also, when comes to maintenance filler can be refilled where required but old caulk becomes gummy and need to removed and reinstated; removing old caulk is messy and time consuming.

Thanks, that's helpful. I've always preferred filler but thought I ought to be trying caulk (since it's been around at least 40 years now!)
