DELONGHI COOKER..GRILL ONLY STAYS ON AFTER IT WARMS UP..help

Please help...when i press the ignition switch for the grill it fires up ok,but once i let go the flame goes out...i have to hold it for about a minute b4 the grill stays on...any reason for this...please help.....its a delonghi profesional dfg 90.....thanks....matt
