As per FMT, it would not comply with UK regs; the gap between the risers should not be open, and handrail would not comply. It would only be equivalent to a pull-down ladder for a storage loft - and likely far more expensive.
Well its horses for courses then I guess! The customer already has wooden drop down ladders at 75 degree's (that's climbing) or he pay's for some custom built loft stairs that can go down to 50 degree's which is only 5 degree's more than my normal stairs at home, which are perfectly acceptable to walk up so I know which I would prefer.
