Hey folks,

What is your advice with regards to this ?

It’s a plasterboard behind the mantelpiece which rests on two bolts. It has deteriorated due to heat. Do I need to break out the entire board around the crack and replace it, or just polyfilla the cracks and paint over ? There is a 5-6” gap between the plasterboard and the metal chimney flue behind.

Can you post more photos? Particularly of the fire itself.

I do not know the answer to your questions but something looks very, very wrong, i.e. potentially dangerous.
