DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

@aveatry Yes quite right. I realised that when I saw where your push notch is! It's an easy fix though.

Meanwhile... I saw a review of this saw where the guy measures the flatness of the table. It's way flatter than mine!

10 thou out, I'd be happy with that. So, I think I will take it back.

glad they have modified the flap over the on/off button as you have to carefully lower once you start it otherwise it knocks the power off when it drops 'on this version you have accessibility though the flap

It's lockable, too (the grey ON cover) just in case there are kids around. You just need a padlock with a long hasp. Going back on Friday.

9'20 on the video he calls it a "kick back claw"??
Well spotted!

Mine doesn't have one. I guess it's because it's a GB variant. He is American so reviewing the US version. here in the UK we get ripped off again as usual!

OK.. I can update this thread with a bit of good news.

Today I drove to Basingstoke to return the saw and see if a replacement is any better. Short story is, it is! Way better and the fence is at 90 degrees, too (the old fence was out by a bit). A 4 hour round trip in some evil weather but worth it to be sure what I have is good and true. I won't say the table top is perfect - it's still slightly out - but by much less than the other one and I think it is good enough for my purposes.

Big thumbs up to DVS Power Tools! Best price I could find and excellent after sales support. Their warehouse is huge and bulgung with toys...

Yeah, I'm happy!

Yeah, I'm happy!
thanks for the update(y)

the aluminium would be exposed and start to corrode
Not how aluminium works btw
Best price I could find
including 4h worth of diesel and time though? :)

Way back when I wanted a table saw I ended up with a big old Startrite tilt arbor for a hundred quid on eBay; man has that thing done some work. I'd never exchange it for a new saw of this ilk you have here (though it's not very portable) - if modern machinery is disappointing, take a look for some decent older thing made from cast iron and steel? :)

Bare alumium corrodes, trust me. Or, it goes rough and starts building up white powdery deposits if not protected from the elem, ents. Seen it many times! Especially in my workshop, ha ha..

No diesel, electric car. I think the journey cost less than fiver's worth of electricity and I'm retired so have lots of time. plus, went to lunch with my brother, which was nice. I consider it worth it just to be sure the replacement was better. Imagine if DVS had shipped a new one and that too was wobbly..

Anyway all's good and I'm looking forward to a bit of cabinetry. Bodged up style, like. I'll post some pictures if anyone's interested and I remember!

Well I know I for one will sleep soundly tonight.

I'm expecting to see some serious woodworking accomplishments on the forum in the future ....
