DHW noise

My boiler is making quite a noise when delivering DHW, and also during it's routine hourly "pre-heat" cycle (to ensure the water is warm when a tap is turned on). The best description I can think of the noise is like someone has chucked a handful of gravel into the heating water.

Is this something maybe related to air in the boiler? The boiler is a Vokera Syntesi 35 and also happens to be the highest point in both the hot water and central heating systems. If this IS related to air, would adjustment of the automatic air release valve help?

Any advice appreciated - I have to sleep in the same room as this boiler for a few weeks so would like it to shut up!

Thanks

sounds like kettling.

but im oil. so "Vokera Syntesi "means nowt to me . why do boiler manufacturers put the tv on in the afternoon and name their latest boiler from whatever is dealt.

If it is kettling then what can I do to prevent it? It can't be related to age - the boiler is only 4 months old. I thought kettling was literally 'boiling' of the water - is such a thing likely to happen immediately the minute the burners ignite?

It's a gas condensing combi btw.
