What’s people’s thoughts on it ?

I’m not a massive fan, I think it’s going to be pushed on us to “cure” a few issues.

I'd say state ran Digital ID has started already surreptitiously - just had to renew my driving license. On the application form they want to know Passport number (OK that's for the 'photo on the license) but also asking for NI number - that you can offer voluntarily at present.
In my professional career the company ID card had along with company name and photo, Magnetic stripe, Chip&Pin, NFC and the 'photo digitally embedded.

Actually an ID 'card', digital or preferably physical probably wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if it makes things more difficult for the black economy.
