can someone please advise what dimmer switch i need for 15 downlightes gu10 halogen 50 watts

(15 x 50) + 25% = Minimum rating of your required dimmer switch

937.5 watts then.

Alternatively take the halogens back and purchase some CFL or LED lamps. Best advice I can give.
