dimming lights

Hi all we have just moved into a 1950's house and in the evening when the lights are on and we switch the kettle on the lights dim, what does this mean :confused:

it sound like a power surge (There is a link on this site for this have a look in lighting).
 
could be loose wiring of meter tails or a problem in the CU

Could be quite a few things - I'd suggest a professional inspection.

1950's house - potentially 50-year old wiring, which would be a Bad Thing™.
