Hi, do standard SBC 40w candle lamps need to have the wattage "doubled up" for the correct rated dimmer switch?
The reason I ask is I need to dim 14 x 40watt of them.
Unfortunately I cant find 25w ones on SBC to bring the wattage down, can only find SES.

Thanks, John

IIRC candle lamps do require standard dimmers to be derated.

You can often avoid this by using a soft start dimmer such as MK plate dimmers or varilite intelegent dimmers.

Even so you should be ok to dim 14no. 40W candle lamps with a 1000W dimmer.

Thanks, I'll try and find a 1000w dimmer ( in brass she wants  )
Cheers

nice one, cheers for finding that, appreciated :)

do you think its likely i'll get away with a 400w dimmer ( 14 x 25w = 350w) or still go with the 1000w dimmer.

cheers
