disappearing posts

I replied to a post earlier today and received an email telling me someone had replied to the post i had..

I clicked on the link in the e mail an it says " Post doesn't exist" Eh ??

Whats going on

This most often happens if the original post is by a spammer, or is a duplicate, or if the thread gets abusive and stops being useful.

This is why indiscriminate deletion is such a pain in the a*se. I've lost count of the number of times I've suggested that locking AND EXPLAINING is a better method of moderating, but the reply tends to be a stony silence.

It was a great shame the 'Corgi Olympics' thread was removed.
I found it educational, quite horrifying in fact, and I've been in Engineering for some 25 years. Some of the loud Corgi chaps got defensive abusive and it was deleted. A shame, but I'd already saved some of it. :lol:

If you do a Google search, for the relevant terms and "diynot" you'll often be able to retrieve the cached version
