Disconnect gas cooker temporarily

Nope, their is no flexible pipe at all, thanks anyway, I phoned a guy at the big hardware chain here, their plumbing guy, he nearly freaked when I asked if it was safe, and said it was illegal, I don't think they make it easy for the home handyman here sometimes, I don't know of anyone who has that flexible pipe and bayonet fitting for their kitchen oven.

For many years almost all freestanding cookers have been installed with a flexible tube.

Maybe Pompeyfan really IS where he says - Australia! Where the attitude to diy is rather different. Pro's only.

Going back to the stove thing. is it a freestanding cooker or a stove eg. 'Aga' or 'Rayburn'.
I would expect a stove of this type to be rigidly piped as they weigh a bl**dy tonne. Even moving them out of the way is a specialist job unless you can get car jacks under it or something as they are so heavy that they have to be dismantled.
Tell us the make / model and we can find out.
In any case if its rigidly piped you can't work on it yourself.

is it a freestanding cooker
Yep, I've accepted now that because it is rigid pipe, I have to leave it alone, I'm just going to lay the Laminate flooring around it, and not worry about underneath it.
