Does anyone know if there is any legal requirement for an electrician (only) to disconnect a jacuzzi from a consumer unit............

its because we a are selling our property and taking the jacuzzi with us and the buyers are demanding that we get a certificate to say that it has been disconnected in the correct or safe manner......can they ask for this?

Appreciate your answers

If a PIR( http://www.esc.org.uk/safety-in-the-home/advice-and-tips/pirs-explained.htmlis ) is done when you move out and they move in, the report will prove the condition of the installation. A PIR should be made when occupancy changes. But often is not!
If the cable is disconnected at the CU and put in safe enclosure, there should be no problem, you could also withdraw the fuse/MCB and blank it.

They are at liberty to ask for whatever they like.

You are at liberty to tell them to get stuffed.

If it was me selling my house id give them a certificate or PIR (whatever) but id make sure every trace of the Jacuzzi circuit is removed so if they ever wanted to install one themselves they will have to go to the expense of having a new circuit re-installed for it!

End of the day its down to how much you want them to buy the house, there is no (far as im aware) legal requirement to provide such paperwork.
