Discount from a dealer

I want to buy a second-hand car from a dealer. I have always bought privately before but can't find what I want this time. I want to spend upto about £7000.

I know I could shop around and play off one dealer against another to get a better deal but to be honest I can't be bothered.

My question is this: Roughly how much discount can I negotiate if I am paying cash or are there be big variations in this?

first car i got from a dealer, my mum did the talking bless her. we managed to get the car for the list price, with a years warranty and 6 months tax, and i think we got a full tank of petrol too (£20 lol) (paid on switch for the whole lot, £3995 and didnt have to phone bank for authorisation!)

Some dealers will bend more than others. Sometimes depends how much they want to get shut of the car, and which side of bed the salesman got out of.
