Dishwasher clogged

Dear all my dishwasher stopped heating water and trying to find the reason I came across this plastic container which looks like it is clogged but I am not sure how to clean it. The containers looks sealed. Is there a way to clean it without having to disassemble it?

If you are referring to what looks like baked beans, then no. Mine has one of those too [not sure what the proper name is] and it's to do with where the salt goes. It has a kind of spongy structure that lets water pass.

First check, assuming it is taking in water first, should be the heater element - check the resistance of the element.

Thanks, where can I find the heating element? it is not inside the dishwasher (not the horse shoe shaped rod) that you see in some.

The brown granules are normal, part of the water softener.

Its a Zanussi about 10 years old (model ZDT 21002FAl)
